New Hope Community Church is serious about missions! As a church, we support missionaries in various parts of the world. But we also feel it's important for us to get out into the mission field ourselves. Toward this end, the Junior High youth group went to Salt Lake City in June of 2006. Below are some of the pictures of the trip.

Getting ready to go. 4:30 am sure came early!

With Pastor Lee at Prayer Rock. It was a brutal hike, but the vista of Salt Lake City below while Pastor Lee played "Amazing Grace " on the bagpipes was priceless!

Making brochures with a Gospel message, inviting people to come to church. The team passed these out in Mormon neighborhoods.

Evangelizing in front of a Mormon Ward House.

The team visited downtown Salt Lake City and Temple Square, where they learned much about Mormonism.

The team scraped, sanded and painted this walkway leading to the Hidden Valley Church as their work project. They worked all day in 104 degree heat.

On Sunday, the team was able to share the Gospel using "Kids EE" with a group of young people. They also performed several Gospel skits.

Sunday afternoon was time for relaxing and enjoying the beauty of God's creation. The team went to the great Salt Lake where they hiked a mountain.

Who could forget the flies on the beach at the Great Salt Lake?

The team had plenty of time for fellowship, like singing by the campfire next to a roaring mountain stream.

Clowning with pastor Kirby.

It was a busy missions trip. By the time everything was done--the team was exhausted.

We had a great time in Salt Lake City, and the team really made an impact. We praise God for churches like Hidden Valley, and pastors like Lee Mashburn who are making a difference in the heavily Mormon city of Salt Lake City.
